Vincent was here

2019

After photographing the Van Gogh reproduction in her parents' burnt-out house, Karin Borghouts became aware of her youthful memories of the painting and the influence it had on her visual memory. Slowly, the ball started rolling, and the photographer has since followed in Vincent van Gogh's footsteps several times over the past few years. Zundert, de Borinage, Nuenen, Parijs, Arles, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Auvers sur Oise... she has looked at and photographed things that the painter looked at, drew and painted some 130 years ago. Karin also reconstructed and photographed Van Gogh's still lifes.
