Vincent was here - Van Gogh Village Museum Nuenen

2023

  • Vincentwashere Nuenen4 P4 A0862 Pano
  • The brand new Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen was officially opened by Queen Máxima on 16 May 2023. Karin Borghouts' photographic exhibition Vincent was here is the first temporary exhibition. The museum, located opposite the vicarage of Vincent's father, has much more to offer and is also an ideal starting point for a Van Gogh cycle or walking tour. It was in Nuenen that Vincent van Gogh painted his masterpiece, The Potato Eaters. There are still many reminders of his stay.

Karin Borghouts followed Vincent van Gogh from Zundert to Auvers-sur-Oise, reconstructing and photographing many of his still lifes. She was inspired by the work of Van Gogh and his teachers, 19th century contemporaries and old masters. The photography book Vincent Was Here is published by Ronny Van de Velde and also available in the online store.
