Fierensblokken Antwerp

11-2023

The Fierens blocks on the corner of Nationalestraat and Kronenburgstraat in Antwerp Belgium have almost been demolished. After years of intensive renovation and refurbishment, the social housing complex designed by Gustave Fierens in 1937 is back with a wide range of affordable rental apartments. A new corner tower and a spacious roof terrace offer views over the city. The new owner, AG Vespa (the real estate organisation of the City of Antwerp), awarded the renovation contract to HCVA - Happel Cornelisse Verhoeven Architects and Molenaar & Co Architects after a competition. This is the ninth building project that Karin has photographed for HCVA.
