A series of photo artbooks about Antwerp, historical city and port in Belgium, are published at the initiative of art dealers Ronny and Jessy Van de Velde. The extraordinary big photobooks are of a very high quality and printed in Belgium. The book 'Antwerpen, stad verbeeld' is commissioned and published by Gallery Ronny Van de Velde in cooperation with Ludion publishers.

    ‘Antwerpen, stad verbeeld’ biedt een blik op hoe de stad vandaag omgaat met haar verleden. Fotograaf Karin Borghouts neemt ons mee op een wandeling door de hedendaagse stadskern, van het Centraal Station tot de Schelde en van het Zuid tot het Eilandje. Ze kijkt daarbij vooral naar de historische gebouwen en hun interieurs, in grote mate gerestaureerd of zelfs gereconstrueerd. De foto’s roepen vragen op over authenticiteit. Veel historische gevels zien er nu beter uit dan ooit en brengen de stad glorieus in beeld. Dit prachtige fotoboek, met meer dan 200 paginagrote foto’s, doet de lezer op een andere manier kijken naar bekende Antwerpse gebouwen, pleinen en straten, en laat hem nieuwe en verrassende plaatsen ontdekken. Het boek vormt een tweeluik met Antwerpen Verloren Stad 1860-1880 dat negentiende-eeuwse foto’s bevat van Antwerpen, net voor de sloop van de stadswallen en de rechttrekking van de Schelde.
