KU Leuven: 600 years of history to discover

Double exhibition

This autumn, the two exhibitions Routes to Knowledge and The Pursuit of Knowledge will reflect on 600 years of university history in Leuven. The university library is displaying photographic routes by Karin Borghouts. Several of her large-format photographs are also on display at museum M Leuven.

Potatoes in Zundert

140 years ago, Vincent van Gogh painted The Potato Eaters in the Brabant village of Nuenen. Contemporary artists are inspired by The Potato Eaters.

The James Ensor House

From medieval dances of death to contemporary grotesque and erotic depictions—the human skeleton has been a powerful image in art for centuries.This exhibition explores how Belgian artists, from James Ensor and Félicien Rops to Paul Delvaux and Wim Delvoye, have interpreted the skeleton motif in diverse and often surprising ways. Includes one photo taken by Karin at the Museum Dr. Guislain.

Repurposing churches. Exhibition in Milan.

At the end of last year, the Flemish Government Architect's Office published HER SCHEPPEN(*) (Recreate), a book showcasing the design research conducted for the Projectbureau Herbestemming Kerken (Church Repurposing Project Office) between 2016 and 2021. The book, with photographs of Karin Borghouts, received widespread acclaim, both at home and abroad. An exhibition featuring these photographs, among other information, will open in Milan in Italy on 17 September.

The exhibition, Un paesaggio di chiese. Esperimenti di riuso nelle Fiandre, will take place at the Fondazione dell’Ordine degli Architetti di Milano and will run until 31 October 2025.

BOEM electroacoustic concerts

The fifth edition of BOEM promises to be a unique musical experience! On Saturday, 27 September 2025, 16 composers will come together with the public for an evening of electroacoustic creativity at the Tinnenpot Theatre in Ghent Belgium. The event is organised by Dirk Veulemans (partner of Karin Borghouts), whose own composition will be performed on Sunday 28 September.
