This year KU Leuven celebrates its 600th anniversary. Karin Borghouts was commissioned to photograph the buildings, interiors and collections of the university in 2023. The photos have now been published in a beautiful photobook with texts by Liesbet Nys, published by Hannibal Books. The book was launched on 30 January at the former Bacteriological Institute, now BAC ART LAB.

Architect Laurent-Benoît Dewez (1731-1812)

The first highlight of the jubilee year celebrating the 900th anniversary of the Abbey of Vlierbeek in Leuven has been announced.

Laurent-Benoît Dewez. Forgotten master architect at the service of the court, the elite and the church.

The exhibition focuses on the designer of the church and the new abbey district.

Commissioned by the design agency Fugzia, Karin Borghouts has photographed 17 buildings by Laurent-Benoît Dewey in and around Brussels and in Wallonia. The exhibition includes information about Dewey and the Abbey of Vlierbeek. The curator is Geert Robberecht.

After the exhibition in the Abdij van Vlierbeek, a luxurious monography of Laurent Benoît Dewez will be published by Professor Dirk van de Vijver, Leuven University Press, with 31 photographs by Karin Borghouts (English).
